I love sardines

Sardine.jpg
Call me unusual but I love these little guys. Just had a grilled one with a glass of dry Rose' (at Cafe Juanita of course). Yum. Rich, complex and savory. And they are good for you. They contain Omega-3 acids, vitamins, minerals, and are also a natural source of Vitamin B-2, iodine, selenium, phosphor, calcium and magnesium.

Sardines do not have to be stinky fish smooshed flat in a can. Try the Sardine's in Olive Oil (Borges del Mare Nostrom) from Conservas Sisquet. Sisquet are a small family firm who produce award winning tinned fish. The artisan fleet of thirty that fish for Sisquet are based in the Catalan port of Tarragona on the Spanish Meditteranean coast. The regulations for the Catalan fishery are the strictest in the Meditteranean and each port closes for two months between November and March to help regenerate fish stocks. They do a great job of catching plump sardines, keeping them firm and fresh and tasty.
